Lyle Hewitson involved in Horrid fall in Hong Kong

Lyle Hewitson was first to fall in a horrid accident at Sha Tin during the Hong Kong Sprint on Sunday. 

LATEST: Reports from hospital is Lyle Hewitson is conscious and has a hip fracture. Currently no surgery is needed. 

He is said to conscious and spoke to David Ferraris on track. Numerous horses were brought down the the fall and two on them didn't make it. According to reports Naboo Attack and Amazing Star were those horses. The jockey club released the following statement... 

The Hong Kong Jockey Club confirms that jockeys Yuichi Fukunaga, Lyle Hewitson and Zac Purton who were dislodged during the LONGINES Hong Kong Sprint are conscious and have been sent to hospital for further medical assessment.

 

Further update will be provided in due course.

 

Given the accident and the developing circumstances, the decision was made that the trophy presentation of that race and the remaining HKIR races should be scaled down, including not playing national anthems.
