The National Horseracing Authority confirms that at an Inquiry held at Hollywoodbets Greyville Racecourse on 9 January 2022, Jockey Athandiwe Mgudlwa was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.3. The particulars being that he failed to ride BLUE SAILS out to the end of Race 8 at Hollywoodbets Scottsville Racecourse on 8 December 2021, to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards, thereby prejudicing his chances of obtaining 3rd position.

Jockey Mgudlwa pleaded guilty to and was found guilty of the charge.

The Inquiry Board after considering the evidence and the mitigating factors, imposed a penalty of a suspension from riding in races for a period of 14 days.

Jockey Mgudlwa has the Right of Appeal against the penalty imposed.
