The Enigma that is Do It Again and the Marcus Gift

In and average renewal of the 1900, Do It Again showed his class and poise to win the famed July preparation race.

Not as 'hot' a form race as in the 80's or 90's, the once important event has devolved to a race with horses having an average merit rating of just 104, and that too mainly because of the presence of Do It Again, rated a cool 126. The gross stake is just R350k in tough economic times but it did headline a Saturday meeting during the famed KZN winter season.

Do It Again could only but win and win he did in style. He was put to sleep in the race and livened up down the straight to win going away carrying 62kgs. He was a full 5 pounds better off than anything else at weight for age terms.

The highlight was most likely Anton Marcus handing his winning trophy to an adoring fan at the Grandstand winners enclosure. A fine gesture.

Onwards and upwards for Do It Again as he attempts a 3rd July win. He missed out last year due to traffic issues and should have won that event too. With Kommetdieding's form sliding after two poor efforts on the Highveld, the July is an open contest.

Interesting fact is that Do It Again went the Pinnacle route last year at the same time as this win and that was his last career win. He seems to love Durban during the season.
