Drier Last Day Produces Major Upset

Dennis Drier, the legendary KZN based trainer, began his final day as a trainer as a winner - in many ways the way he has lived his life.

The veteran with five decades of knowledge training horses put all that experience to good use in plotting the downfall of Captain's Ransom, the reigning South African Horse Of The Year, in the SplashOut Gr.3 Prix du Cap at Kenilworth today.

Drier was emotional on his last day as were his staff and patrons. The filly Live My Life was aptly named as his final winner before handing the reigns over to longtime assistant Stuart Ferrie.

It was by no means a punters result as the 1/3 shot trained by Justin Snaith, got beaten into second yet again disappointing on her final course appearance. Captain's Ransom enters stud after this run.
