Korea Added to Breeders' Cup series

The Breeders' Cup Challenge Series has expanded its reach by including two stakes races held in South Korea. The Korea Cup and the Korea Sprint, both Group 3 races set for September 8 at Seoul Racecourse, join the roster of contests offering fees-paid berths to the Breeders’ Cup event. The Korea Cup, a 1 1/8-mile dirt race, will grant a berth to the Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile, while the Korea Sprint, a six-furlong dirt race, will offer a berth to the Breeders’ Cup Sprint.

These additions highlight the international scope of the Breeders’ Cup, with 41 stakes races held outside the U.S. included in the Win and You’re In program this year. Winners of these designated stakes not only have their entry fees waived but also receive travel stipends, fostering global competition in horse racing. This year's schedule also sees the addition of three races in England, further enriching the diversity of qualifying events.

The Breeders' Cup Challenge Series features a total of 82 races across 12 countries, with 41 domestic races complementing the international lineup. All races in the series are graded stakes, showcasing the highest level of competition. Last year, 42 horses who won a designated race participated in the Breeders’ Cup, with eight of them emerging victorious.

As excitement builds for this year's Breeders' Cup, scheduled for November 1-2 at Del Mar, the inclusion of races from South Korea and England underscores the event's global appeal and the ongoing effort to attract top talent from around the world.
