South African Mares Add Proven Class to Magic Millions Results

Two Australian-bred fillies out of South African mares drew strong international attention at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, with elite buyers responding to depth, durability, and proven top-level class in the female line.

Leading the pair was the Snitzel–Delta Queen (SAF) bay filly, sold for $800,000 to Moody Racing Pty Ltd/Mick Malone Bloodstock (NSW). Foaled on 13 September 2024, she is out of Delta Queen, a Grade 3 winner of the Kenilworth Fillies Nursery and a daughter of River Jetez, the winner of the Cape Met, giving the pedigree both speed and classic substance.

Also making a strong impression was the Snitzel–Carry On Alice (SAF) filly, purchased for $460,000 by David Ellis CNZM for Te Akau Racing. Her dam, Carry On Alice, was one of South Africa’s outstanding sprinting mares, a four-time Group 1 winner whose victories included the Cape Flying Championship, Computaform Sprint, and the South African Fillies Sprint on two occasions.

In a highly competitive international marketplace, both fillies reinforced the global commercial appeal of South African mares when paired with elite sires, with proven racetrack performance translating into strong demand on one of the world’s premier sales stages.
