South African-Bred Pair Among 2026 Hong Kong International Sale Graduates

The Hong Kong Jockey Club has confirmed the trainer allocations for the 16 horses sold at the 2026 Hong Kong International Sale, with the draft featuring youngsters sourced from Australia, New Zealand, Great Britain and South Africa.

James Cummings received the largest allocation with four horses, while Danny Shum, David Hall and Benno Yung were each assigned two. The remaining horses will join the stables of Francis Lui, Danny Hayes, Tony Cruz, Douglas Whyte, Pierre Ng and K L Man.

The catalogue showcased the progeny of internationally renowned sires including Per Incanto, Deep Field, Savabeel, Written Tycoon, I Am Invincible, Wootton Bassett, Toronado, Mehmas, Calyx and Dundeel.

South Africa is represented by two colts that were bred and purchased in South Africa before being exported to Great Britain and later sold through the Hong Kong International Sale.

Lot 6, by champion sire Gimmethegreenlight out of Honorine, was purchased by Tang Kin Nam and allocated to trainer Danny Shum.

Lot 15, by What A Winter out of Cosmic Light, was purchased by Henry Cheung Kun Tong and will join the stable of Douglas Whyte.

Their inclusion once again highlights the global appeal of South African bloodstock, with both youngsters now set to begin their racing careers in Hong Kong.
