Ridden by top jockey Anthony Delpech, hot favourite Mr. Brock broke an old myth by becoming the first horse ever having won both the Supertote Golden Trophy and the prestigious Maiden, sponsored this year by The Phnix Beverages Group, over 2 300m.

In the initial part of the race, a trio of horses : Ubusuku (Emamdee), Keen To Win (Venkaya) and Mr. Brock (Anthony Delpech) were in the lead.
