It is always quite fascinating to see European breeders reactions to
Australian bred and raced stallions. Darley Stud has released its fees for 2006
with Cape Cross and new boy Shamardal heading the list at Kildangan Stud,
Ireland at fees of �50,000 and �40,000 respectively. Over at Dalham Hall
Stud, Newmarket Singspiel holds sway at �35,000 from newcomer Dubawi at
�25,000 the same as Red Ransom and Tiger Hill. Read further down the list and
you come to Exceed And Excel at �7,500 and Reset �7,000. Currently in
Australia this season Shamardal is covering at $55,000 the same as Exceed and
Excel and above that of Cape Cross $44,000. Reset`s fee has been set at
$33,000 some $11,000 more than Tiger Hill. Dubawi, Shamardal and Tiger Hill will
be joined by other newcomers Doyen and and Zafeen under the Darley banner in
2006. `We have two of the very best three-year-olds in Europe retiring this
year,` said Sam Bullard, Darley`s head of nominations, `And they`re joining
young stallions of outstanding merit in Cape Cross and Singspiel. Add to them
the likes of Tiger Hill Red Ransom Halling King`s Best, plus three of Europe`s
best sires of juveniles in Bertolini, Xaar and Mark Of Esteem, and you can see
that we`re assembling a roster that no serious breeder can afford to ignore.`
Bullard also alluded to the recent strength of the yearling market. `There is no
question, this is a good time to be breeding top-class racing prospects. The
Darley roster is all about quality and, as ever, we will be doing our utmost to
