Pocket Power became the second horse in South African racing history to be named Horse of the Year for a 3rd time in a row at the 2009 Equus Awards held at Emperor's Palace in Johannesburg.
The winner of a string of Group 1 event throughout the season including the J&B Met and the Gold Challenge, the champion son of Jet Master was fully deserving of his prize ahead of Vodacom July winner, Big City Life.
The tear jerking moment of the night was the speech given by Champion Jockey Andrew Fortune who described his rise from drug addict to champion of his professional.
