AFTER YESTERDAY'S DEBACLE AT CLAIRWOOD, ONE WOULD HOPE ANY RACE MEETING TODAY WILL BE AN IMPROVEMENT. DAYS SUCH AS YESTERDAY DO NOTHING BUT TARNISH THE GOOD IMAGE THAT HORSE RACING SOUTH AFRICA HAS BUILT UP OVER THE YEARS. SURELY HEADS MUST ROLL AFTER THAT SO CALLED MEETING AT CLAIRWOOD!!!

RACE 1:Maiden Juvenile Plate 1000m Straight

GREENACRE has had two nice runs and will be looking to break his maiden this afternoon. Will be running on. DUKE OF DESTINY showed very good improvement last time. Consider even for the win. PLACIDO made a good debut last time this C & D. TEALION did not have the best of runs last time. Did show potential and would not be a surprise winner. SOWETO DAWN makes his debut. Keep an eye on the betting.

RACE 2:Maiden Plate (F & M) 1200m Straight

SPRINGTIME FLAME ran an absolute cracker last time when making her PE debut. Had she not been bumped in the straight she would have won. The one to beat if repeating that effort. Watch the betting on the first timer RIVERET. Stable companion, DANCERS GRACE made good improvement in her second start. Could earn. PINK LULLABY improved by almost ten lengths last time. That was her best run and finished second that day. Respect. MORNINGNOONANDNITE has steady form. Has not run since October and may need a run or two.

RACE 3:Maiden Plate 2400m Bend

IN LOCO PARENTIS has shown good recent improvement and was beaten a short head this C & D last time. Good chance if repeating that run. RED RESERVE has shown encouraging improvement in his last two starts and looks ready to win his maiden soon. DETZKY'S TAO improved by seventeen lengths last time. Chance on that improvement. BYE NOW could be finding form again and he does run well over the distance. TIGER'S SMILE ran his best race to date last time this C & D when running on. Don't ignore.

RACE 4:MR 93 Hcp 2400m Bend

JERVIS takes on much stronger opposition this afternoon. Form is good this C & D and he is well suited to this C & D. With the light mass could be the right one. OCTOBER CLUB may be coming back to form but can be given a chance on his good form this C & D. GREY EAGLE won well over this distance at Arlington last time. May have more to find in this league. Consider for bigger permutations. ANNIVERSARY KNIGHT improved by twenty one lengths last time. Lacks reliability. Can't ignore though. SUPERFEDERATION has steady form. First time this far. Stamina doubts?

RACE 5:MR 69 Hcp 2000m Bend

EMILY ROSE has consistent form. Usually stays on and has yet to run badly in any of her post maiden runs. EMBLEM PARK ran on very well last time against slightly stronger. Must have a shout in this weak field. TREVOR made a decent debut in PE last time. Had been running on in KZN. watch for further improvement. C'MON INDY has been improving and sets a good pace. COUNT OLIVER disappointed last time. Has shaped up better against stronger. Don't ignore.

RACE 6:Graduation Plate (F & M) 1600m Bend

SHE WOLFF has very good form and she has run this C & D once and that was a most impressive run. Looks likely to win again very soon. MISS SUNSHINE is another one who has very steady form, especially this C & D where she has won both of her starts to date. A strong challenger. MARIONETTE won very impressively last time. That run was over this C & D. Was running on and can repeat. CINNAMON has some fair form and can earn. ESTELLE held on to win against weaker last time. Consider for the places.

RACE 7:MR 78 Hcp 1200m Straight

UMHLABA ran on really well this C & D last time when showing good improvement. A repeat of that run could see him win this time around. EASTERN PARADE takes quite a sharp drop in class and with some decent form should be a strong challenger. Well weighted. KING OF FLAGS has shown consistency and he has won this C & D. ROMERO may have finished fifth last time this C & D but he was only a quarter of a length behind the winner.. He also lost a length at the start that day. COUNT DUMANI has been improving.

RACE 8:MR 74 Hcp (F & M) 1200m Straight

SKYBLADE has very good form and she will be running on. She has run well this C & D as well. Could be too strong as she has run well against stronger. EXCELLENT COVE showed good improvement last time when running on this C & D. Should go close. HIGHTOWER did not show last time. Claims on previous better form. CAN DO might on recent form. Was a trifle unlucky last time. FAIRY QUEEN is never far back and she may improve with a 4kg apprentice claim.

RACE 9:Maiden Plate (F & M) 1200m Straight

MY CHELSEY GIRL should be better back over this distance. Last run was too far. Had good form before that. JET JEWEL made an encouraging debut last time. Was supported in the betting. Looks to have a strong claim over this slightly extra trip. QUINOA stayed on over shorter last time. Best runs have been this C & D. BALLYDEHOB is improving nicely. Cannot be ignored and could make an impression. ROYAL PRELUDE has yet to show, but last time ran in a small feature.
