A nine race all-Polytrack card from Singapore on Friday night and some very exciting horses should make it a meeting to remember.
Case in point in the clash between the highly-rated SPEEDY CAT (Joao Moreira) and EMERALD HILL – unbeaten in three Singapore starts – in a Class 2 sprint over 1200m (race 8).
SPEEDY CAT sensationally won his first four career starts before taking on the might SUPER EASY in the Three-Year-Old Sprint.
He lost no fans being beaten for the first time that day and his form since over various distances has been more than admirable and can win back on a surface he very much enjoys.
EMERALD HILL has looked every bit as good as SPEEDY CAT after his first three starts in Singapore.
The star of the John O’Hara stable blitzed his rivals to break his maiden status on debut before doing a similar job on his hapless opposition two starts back.
The 4YO won comfortably last time out in nice company and certainly takes it right up to SPEEDY CAT in what could be a terrific race with last start winners CASH DOT COM, EMBLESSED and NICEONE keeping the pair more than honest.
Best Bets; AMERICAN GLADIATOR (race 2, win), ARROW TO POST (race 3, win), LUCKY SUN (race 4, value).
Bankers for Jackpots: Race 6 (1, 4, 5, 6, 8 and 10), race 7 (1, 2, 3, 4 and 6), race 8 (1 and 8) and race 9 (2, 3, 5 and 7).

RACE 1: MAIDEN - 1000M (POLYTRACK) TIME: 18:20 PRIZE MONEY: S$35000
Larry says, "In a field of maidens that fail to set the pulse racing, HEARTS has been placed six times in 10 starts, twice in Class 4. Oscar Chavez has ridden him his last two starts for good placings and he gets the chance to knock in a well-deserved win for Steven Lam. At the other end of the scale PASHA KHAN has had 24 starts for 6 placings, and has been a beaten favourite four times. Nine different jockeys have had a try so now David Kok has turned to Joao Moreira for a little magic. They have put the tongue-tie on STARLITE SHOWER and that may help him finish off his races; he has plenty of speed and if he can find a kick will be right in this. JERAM JERAM finds himself back on the poly with a senior rider in KB Soo; he will appreciate that much better than the combination of turf and an apprentice. STARSTRUCK is another with woeful turf form but his efforts on the poly are good enough to suggest a chance in what is not a strong field. Right at the bottom of the weights is GRAND ASAHI with the 4kg claimer LQ Lek. He has not raced for three months and had six months off prior to that. Whilst better known over longer trips, he ran a smashing race first-up last time in a similar race to this, he could be value in the exotics. IMPAYLER and JERAM ROSE WOOD could also threaten the placings. "

RACE 2: RESTRICTED MAIDEN (2+3YO) (WEIGHT FOR AGE) - 1200M (POLYTRACK) TIME: 18:50 PRIZE MONEY: S$65000
Larry says, "A Restricted Maiden where at least some of the runners have reasonable revealed form unlike some of the more recent races of this nature. AMERICAN GLADIATOR is a Northern Hemisphere bred and he appears well suited to the Polytrack. Ivaldo Santana gets a good chance to continue the recent South American jockey dominance. Saimee Jumaat has been having a quiet run lately but has started to pick up rides from the Patrick Shaw stable. He gets a nice opportunity on RED RIVER ROCK whose last two runs have been good enough to suggest a winning chance. Joao Moreira jumps on PIONEER SEVEN, they backed it last start when it ran 5th to the stablemate FLAG OF COMMAND and it is bound to attract support again. The blinkers go on JACKPOT and he has been running well in good class races, his only two Polytrack efforts have been good enough to keep him under notice. The emergency THEOLOGY also did enough at his first start to deserve consideration. Of the unraced brigade, MACHFIVE, TO BE REMEMBERED and VICTORY WINGS should be kept safe, and watch for any market moves."

RACE 3: CLASS 4 (1) - 1200M (POLYTRACK) TIME: 19:20 PRIZE MONEY: S$55000
Larry says, "In a race without a great deal of depth, ARROW TO POST - who has been disappointing at his last two starts - gets a chance at redemption from barrier one with Joao Moreira in the saddle. The Leticia Dragon-trained conveyance looked very impressive in winning his maiden but since returning from a spell, whilst showing speed, has finished down the course at his two outings. He will be better suited on the poly and this is not a strong Class 4. THE CARDINAL is another who has disappointed since winning his Initiation for Mark Walker. He has since moved to John O'Hara's stable and the blinkers have been applied. His last run was sound and from the good barrier Sivan gets a chance to break a long run of outs. In a race that falls away quickly, VOLKOV is speedy but can be found wanting at the end, FLYING AHEAD won well last start but would probably like it longer as would FAT KING and THAT'STHEONE is usually around the mark, but rarely wins."

RACE 4: CLASS 5 - 1000M (POLYTRACK) TIME: 19:50 PRIZE MONEY: S$35000
Larry says, "A Class 5 on the Polytrack over 1000m usually throws up many chances and this is no exception. PROBO CHANDROSO is not long in Class 5 and went well enough last start to suggest it will not be long before he wins one. The claim for Willie Tan will help and he should be able to sit just off the pace and run home strongly. After his last start failure, Moreira gets a go on another Leticia Dragon runner, RAPID REWARDS whose prior form was consistent leading up to a well overdue win two starts back. The grand old warrior, the now 10YO LUCKY SUN, is fronting up for the 115th time, his last six starts have yielded a win, three thirds and a fourth, he is bound to be charging home and will be the sentimental favourite with many. PEGASUS VICTORY is racing in good form; he just missed last time and gives the Sivan/John O'Hara combination a chance at another victory. WHYDOYOUASK beat a few of these in winning last time out and whilst he is up in weight, from his good barrier draw could give plenty of cheek. TENTENWIN's recent form reads poorly but 1000m on the Polytrack suits him down to the ground and the first emergency ZAC IMPERIAL could also be competitive if he gets a run and they put a senior rider on top. Can't pick them all but PRUSSIAN JACK fresh is also in the mix."

RACE 5: CLASS 3 - 1200M (POLYTRACK) TIME: 20:20 PRIZE MONEY: S$75000
Larry says, "A nice bunch of Class 3 horses compete over 1200m on the Polytrack. EL PADRINO returned from a successful Dubai trip (as IP MAN) in fine form with a close up second in a similar affair. He has drawn well and can win this. AL'S KNIGHT has been a bit disappointing since resuming being run down on both occasions, the blinkers have come off and Stephen Baster takes over from John Powell who is suspended. MAKKURA looks a smart horse in the making and could be the third leg of a big night for John O'Hara. Unbeaten in two starts in Singapore, she trialed well behind MR BIG recently, seems to race well fresh and Greg Cheyne should have her on the pace all the way. Joao Moreira is on WINONTOP, who put in an average effort last start, but whose previous form was good; he can be expected to improve. YOYO knows how to put in a bad one and is not well drawn, but he could certainly worry a few near the lead fresh."

RACE 6: CLASS 5 - 1600M (POLYTRACK) TIME: 20:50 PRIZE MONEY: S$35000
Larry says, "Honesty counts for plenty in this Class and while he won't be a good betting option with Joao Moreira on board, VITALICO looks hard to beat. His form since winning with apprentice CS Chin five starts ago suggests he is due and certainly whoever beats him probably wins. SEASON'S WONDER is also in good form and gets the advantage of a 4kg claim courtesy of LQ Kek. He has drawn inside VITALICO (gates 7 and 9 respectively) which hopefully the novice hoop can also use to his advantage. SUN ENTERPRISE also comes under notice with blinkers back on a significant move. His form is solid and from gate four with head-gear added over a suitable trip a bold run is expected. Of the rest with serious chances, CHUNG DOONG is certainly ready to win but the wide gate is an issue and while ROMAN EMPIRE will have supporters and has drawn perfectly in gate two, there is a query on this surface so hard to be confident. The emergency, OIL BARON, is some hope if he gets a start and DRAMA SUPERSTAR the improver at odds."

RACE 7: OPEN BENCHMARK 67 - 1700M (POLYTRACK) TIME: 21:20 PRIZE MONEY: S$75000
Larry says, "Small field over this trip always throw up a surprise or three and given all the horses in this field bring some form into the race it looks a very tricky affair for punters. And while following a few horses in this race and value and exotics looks a good betting strategy on the day, JERAM GLORY looks ready to show his best and hard to beat. Alan Monro jumps on-board and from gate one the FLYING PEGASUS 4YO will get the favours and hard to beat. In saying that we had been waiting a long time for POSITIVE THINKING to show his best and he certainly lived up to some of the hype breaking his maiden status in fine form at his last start. This race looks suitable with just 53kg to carry and happy to think he takes it up to some more accomplished rivals. It was hard to leave the likes of Moreira on a last start winner (CINDERELLA MAN) and EXCUSE MY FRIENDS with a 2kg claim out of the top three picks but had to throw DAAD'S THE WAY in somewhere as he looked great late last start from a bad gate and can win this with a claim from gate three and hopefully at odds."

RACE 8: CLASS 2 - 1200M (POLYTRACK) TIME: 21:50 PRIZE MONEY: S$95000
Larry says, "While I'm not convinced this race is as cut and dried as most punters and pundits will think, it is hard to go past SPEEDY CAT and EMERALD HILL on paper. SPEEDY CAT sensationally won his first four races (three on the Polytrack) before finding one to beat in the 3YO sprint. But when you consider the horse that beat him was SUPER EASY and his form since (two seconds and a win) has been good enough to think he is Open Class, he can win this. But like SPEEDY CAT, EMERALD HILL has taken all before him at this first three starts in Singapore and is obviously a horse to follow. Punters haven't missed him either (odd-on at all three starts) and given the dominance of the wins and slick times, he has to be a huge show to remain undefeated in Singapore. But I think the field has depth and a horse like VALEVOLE could easily win given the race does look suitable with 53kg from gate 3. Add CASH DOT COM, EMBLESSED and NICEONE - all in super form and all winning hopes - and the race certainly has more to offer than the two likely favourites. For exotics I would even throw in MY SON and DICTATOR (why not the field?) as this race is a cracker."

RACE 9: CLASS 4 (2) - 1200M (POLYTRACK) TIME: 22:20 PRIZE MONEY: S$55000
Larry says, "Last start Restricted Maiden winner TRUE NORTH looks to have found a very winnable Class 4 race and must be a huge show. The LONHRO 4YO took a few starts to get into the winners circle but certainly looked good enough to think he goes on with the job with Joao Moreira and no real stand-outs in the field. But while there are no horses with their proverbial on the till, a few can improve on recent efforts and would go close at their best. Case in point in BABY FACE who comes into this with a smart recent trial under his belt and a query on the ride at his last start. His honest form in similar affairs has him right in this with Oscar Chavez steering a positive move. GUSHA is another who can improve and is well worth a look with J Saimee on board with a cheeky run also expected by SUPER JETSET with TENUPONTEN some hope and SIR FLEETWOOD a solid each-way show."
