PREVIEW: SCOTTSVILLE - 12 APRIL 2014

Cape Town trainers (Brett Crawford, Dean Kannemeyer, Glen Kotzen, Vaughan Marshall and Justin Snaith) have a strong hand on today's card and they should renew their healthy rivalry against the local trainers (Dennis Drier and Duncan Howells) amongst others, with the satellite yards of Mike De Kock and Sean Tarry likely to have a say.

The daughter of VAR, OBREGA, makes her debut. Watch the betting. SPANISH FLAMENCO made a satisfactory debut last time. Watch for improvement. Keep an eye on the betting on two first timers, PARIS FASHION and HEART OF WINTER. YOU'RE THE TOPS should improve on a decent debut last time.

OMATICAYA last ran in Capte Town when finishing around three lengths behind BEACH BEAUTY. Well weighted and drops in class! Additional bonus is the apprentice claim of 4kg. TRUE MASTER has been weakening but not ignore. ZESTFUL weakens late but has a money chance. DELAWARE BAY has yet to run at this track but has placed this distance.

LUNA DA VICTORIA takes a huge drop in class. Ran well in a feature last time. Last run almost three months ago. TARA DAWN rises in class but won her latest start most impressively. LANGOUSTIER has been slow away in her last two. Has a money chance at this level. CUP OF RUBIES is never far back but weakens. Apprentice claim will help. Stable companion of LUNA DA VICTORIA, ZACHARIAS, has good form against similar class fields. Has won her last two.

CHESTNUT'S ROCKET won his last two including a feature in PE last time. Can feature this afternoon as well. SPEED ROCKET rises in class but had better form at Durbanville. Must be respected. DIAMOND KING raced fresh last time and won his last two. SAIL SOUTH is holding form well and woill be finishing well. Keep an eye on this Cape Town raider. NINETEEN FOURTEEN is in good form against weaker and is battling for his second win.

EVENTUAL ANGEL won a weaker division handicap last time. Looks to have some scope. PRINCESS JULIETTA has good form and in her latest start she finished second, 2.75 lengths behind VIA AFRICA. On that run she must have a very good chance. CIRCLE OF SPEED has very good form against weaker. Not out of it. SAKANIA held on to win impressively last time, but against weaker.

Form has been consistent and she has been running on. DAME VICTORIA weaken slightly late. The slow start could have cost her the win. APPROACH ME hasn't won in almost a year. Has more o find to win. Can earn though.
