PREVIEW SINGAPORE SUNDAY 20 July 2014

As you would expect on the Sunday following Derby Day, the 11 race card is solid without being spectacular.

But some good punting races with some value on offer coupled with a few that might get backed into win, makes it a good day of racing with the tote a terrific guide.

One that might get heavy support is BOOMERANG DELUXE who finally gets to jump from a fair gate in race 10.

The 3YO won on debut but has had a horror run at the barrier draws since and had to jump from double-digit gates at his last three.

Regular hoop, Corey Brown, will give him every chance from gate 5 and his form - which is better than it looks on paper - suggests he wins if on his game.

In the lucky last, CONFIERO might be the one the punters jump on.

The former Malaysian galloper - who broke his maiden status by bolting in by nine lengths some three starts back - showed at his Singapore debut he is more than up to this company and can win with the Panamanian wizard, Oscar Chavez, on-board.

Elsewhere on the card, ULTIMATE WARRIOR doesn’t win often but looks well placed to change that in KSD company in race 8 and LOYAL FRIENDS might also provide each-way value down in Class in race 8.

Best Bets; (BOOMERANG DELUXE race 10, win), (LOYAL FRIENDS race 8, each-way) and (ULTIMATE WARRIOR race 9, value).

Bankers for Jackpots: Race 8 (Field), race 9 (2, 4, 5, 6, 9 and 10), race 10 (3), race 11 (1, 6 and 12).

RACE 8: BRISBANE RACING CLUB TROPHY CLASS 4 - 1600M COURSE B (SC) (TURF TRACK) TIME: 16:25 PRIZE MONEY: S$60000

Larry says, "Not many races have this many genuine winning hopes and bar the 50% well-named SILVER STREAK, all have claims. We always love a Class dropper and in a wide-open race like this a Class dropper looks a good place to start. LOYAL FRIENDS is the horse in question (although Silver Streak did race in Group company last start) and given what he showed over 1400m in Class 3 at his last start, this race and trip looks perfect. Of the rest, three horses come through the same race - a mile won by Panama City - and that form should hold up. In finishing order - DRAGON G, MAREA NEGRO and ZAC SUGGESTION - all should race well and in the mix. You can't name them all but we have been following TO BE REMEMBERED and BILLY BRITAIN is the only horse with a last start win to his name. Do your best!"

RACE 9: AUSTRALIAN TURF CLUB TROPHY KRANJI STAKES D (SET WEIGHTS) - 1700M (POLYTRACK) TIME: 17:00 PRIZE MONEY: S$38000

Larry says, "ULTIMATE WARRIOR has been a disappointing horse in the fact he has only won twice from some 50 odd starts in Singapore but at some stages of his career (nee Tarankali), he was more than competitive in open company and even had a dip at the 2010 Singapore Derby. Now an 8YO, he finds himself in KSD company and after plenty of runs over unsuitable trips with a good recent sighter for his latest trainer, Brian Dean, under his belt, he looks ready to win again. Why not? The track, trip and grade suits and hopefully he provides value given his lack of success. Plenty of others in form and can win though and BLOSSOMS SEQUEL looks well placed back on his winning surface to race very well and the likes of DANNY, GALLANT HEIGHTS and POWERFUL FIGHTER all coming off last start wins. Throw in GODS SPEED for value in what is a nice race."

RACE 10: KRANJI STAKES D (SET WEIGHTS) (1) - 1400M COURSE B (SC) (TURF TRACK) TIME: 17:30 PRIZE MONEY: S$38000

Larry says, "It may only be a KSD but with more than one horse with their foot on the till, it looks a very good punting affair. The obvious choice at first glance is HUGHSY who won very well on debut. The 3YO went back from the wide gate on that occasion and his effort to win this trip was certainly good enough to follow. He should be handier after drawing the ace in this field and probably starts favourite with Davey Flores up. But one we have been following is BOOMERANG DELUXE who also won on debut but has failed to place at five subsequent starts. His form is better than that though and after jumping from double digit gates at this last three runs, Corey Brown will give him every chance after drawing barrier 5. For value hunters, RAVOUX looks ready to win a race like this and given the interest in HUGHSY and BOOMERANG DELUXE, he will be value as will CAPTAIN MCCAW who is always some hope. PETITE VICTOIRE also looks due in what is a nice race."

RACE 11: CLASS 4 - 1200M COURSE B (SC) (TURF TRACK) TIME: 18:00 PRIZE MONEY: S$60000

Larry says, "Another very tough race to finish the meeting and to make matter tougher for form analysts, the winning might be the very last horse (bar the emergency) listed on the 11 race card. The horse in question is the former Malaysian galloper, CONFIERO, who showed more than enough at his Singapore debut to think he wins a race like this sooner than later. The 3YO won by some nine-lengths when breaking his maiden status three starts back so obviously goes better than most and hopefully he shows his best here. Plenty of others that can win and EXQUISITELY SWEET showed more than enough first-up over 1000m to think the spell was a good idea and 1200m looks ideal. Former Japanese galloper, GRAND SEVEN SEAS, showed plenty at his Singapore debut and he wins without surprising with SUPER SHADOW, ROYAL TUDOR, ALAN, KAISER BRIGHT, MASTER DRAGON and even the emergency GREEN TRACER, all with winning chances."

Singapore debut a beauty behind Origin Fast and that looks good enough for this.

Resuming after a frustrating good run of form and goes close with luck in running.
