OLIMPIC AIRWAYS made a cracking debut when backed in from 20/1 to 4/1 at the start last time. FLEETFOX makes his debut. MUSIC APP has been running on in his last two. BIG THAW raids again from PE and has been improving with each run. CASUAL FAN showed great improvement last time when finishing well. Yard and jockey in terrific form.
1st – OLIMPIC AIRWAYS (303/100) (18); 2nd – FLEETFOX (12); 3rd – MUSIC APP (2); 4th - BIG THAW (1); 5th – CASUAL FAN (9)

RACE 2
DAZZLING DANCER ran on well in her second start last time. Watch for further improvement. The daughter of TRIPPI, AMONG THE STARS, makes her debut. Should have a shout. COME TO DADDY got going far too late last time. BAREGA has showed some promise in all five runs thus far. ONE WAY TICKET has no form but jockey could make the difference.
1st – DAZZLING DANCER (455/100) (9); 2nd – AMONG THE STARS (6); 3rd – COME TO DADDY (8); 4th - BAREGA (18/10 F) (2); 5th – ONE WAY TICKET (11)

RACE 3
ETERNAL WINTER has improved in her last two when running on. Could be good value, for place bets at least! WANING CRESCENT has crossed the line in first once, but lost the race in the boardroom. Has done enough to suggest that she should win that elusive maiden very soon. Will be doing her best work late. DOMINA has has a few hard luck stories but is still improving and should not be ignored. HEATHER BOUQUET has been close up in all three runs. Place chance at best. DWYKA showed very big improvement in her second start last time. Respect.
1st – ETERNAL WINTER (17/2) (6); 2nd – WANING CRESCENT (56/100 F) (3); 3rd – DOMINA (4); 4th - HEATHER BOUQUET (2); 5th – DWYKA (10)

FIRST OF MAY has decent post maiden form and ran on far too late last time. Chance on that run. ELUSIVE WAVE ran a good post maiden last time. Can challenge. INDABA has strong form and has won 2 from 3 and goes for the hat trick. Will be running on. CRYSTAL CAVERN ran four consecutive thirds before winning her maiden last time. May need to confirm that win. SNOW ON CEDARS is better that her latest effort.
1st – FIRST OF MAY (62/10) (6); 2nd – ELUSIVE WAVE (5); 3rd – INDABA (15/10 F) (3); 4th - CRYSTAL CAVERN (4); 5th – SNOW ON CEDARS (12)

ANZAC has been finishing strongly and was rewarded with a very good win against stronger at Durbanville last time. Should go close again this afternoon. A TIME TO KILL hasn't won in few days more than a year but has been competitive in that time. Expect a good effort. THE CONGLOMERATE has won two from four but looks to prefer Durbanville. CASTLE has strong form at present and will be doing his best work late. BLOW ME AWAY ran very well in his post maiden last time but takes on stronger.
1st – ANZAC (62/10) (1); 2nd – A TIME TO KILL (455/100 JF) (3); 3rd – THE CONGLOMERATE (6); 4th - CASTLE (7); 5th – BLOW ME AWAY (455/100 JF) (10)

RACE 6
FLY BY NIGHT won the Mercury Sprint at Clairwood last time. Last run in July. Should go close over the shortest trip despite maybe needing the run. VARIKATE won the Merchants at Greyville during the Winter Season. Has the ability and must be included. BALKAN appeals with the light mass. Did not show in two two-year-old features in KZN last season. SAVANNAH SONG loves the C & D. Ran on well last time but is 4kg worse off than VARIKATE on their last meeting and a 0.75 length beating of her. ROSIER was an unlucky loser in a KZN feature last time. One for improvement?
1st – FLY BY NIGHT (17/10 F) (3); 2nd – VARIKATE (1); 3rd – BALKAN (7); 4th - SAVANNAH SONG (2); 5th – ROSIER (5)

RACE 7
HAMMIE'S HOOKER has an impressive record. campaigned in Durban during the Winter Season. Must have a very good shout when finishing just under a length in second to the impressive champion mare, BEACH BEAUTY. Loves this C & D and has in all won 8 from 22 starts. The Port Elizabeth raider, COPPER PARADE, has campaigned nation-wide and has run his socks off in most of the country's sprint features. Never leave out. Last ran in the Mercury Sprint and finished strongly for a close up second. DARING DAVE has impressive form with 5 wins from 8 starts. This will be his hardest yet. DE KOCK disappointed in a pinnacle stakes race last time. Is better than that run. Respect. CAPE TOWN NOIR is a special horse close to many peoples' hearts. He would be a popular winner. Last ran a fair run in the Durban July.
1st – HAMMIE'S HOOKER (909/100) (4); 2nd – COPPER PARADE (1); 3rd – DARING DAVE (7); 4th - DE KOCK (37/10 F) (9); 5th – CAPE TOWN NOIR (2)

RACE 8
A difficult race, as the betting suggests. BE FABULOUS has been running on over further. Has won either side of this distance and should be in the mix late on. LEBOMBO BREEZE ran on well over 2000m last time. Three runs back won her maiden this C & D. DE SOL A SOL won at Durbanville last time. Finished well when recording her second career victory. First time this far. Good chance if seeing out the extra. SAINT SOPHIA hasn't won in almost a year. Has been finishing well and is never too far back. VARSTER drops in class and has won this C & D. Do not ignore. Include ELUSIVE STARS who could be improving further.
1st – BE FABULOUS (4/1 JF) (8); 2nd – LEBOMBO BREEZE (7); 3rd – DE SOL A SOL (4/1 JF) (4); 4th - SAINT SOPHIA (5); 5th – VARSTER (1); 6th - ELUSIVE STARS (6) (4/1 JF)

ROARING WIND loves this C & D and was running on in his last two, both this C & D. Takes on a bit stronger than those two starts but has raced well against stronger fields than this. Chance with 55kg on his back. ALPHA PEGASI ran on in his post maiden which was in a feature last time. Looks to have plenty of scope. KNOX won his maiden at the second attempt last time on the Greyville polytrack. Won by 7 lengths. Would have come to Cape Town for the mountain and can be expected to run well this season. STRATOCRUISER cast a shoe last time in running. Ignore that run. CHESTER'S WISH could be losing form but may place.
1st – ROARING WIND (455/100) (12); 2nd – ALPHA PEGASI (7); 3rd – KNOX (286/100 F) (9); 4th - STRATOCRUISER (5); 5th – CHESTER'S WISH (10)
