PREVIEW: DURBANVILLE - 5 AUGUST 2015
RACE 1:
SUB ZERO is a well bred first timer and son of WESTERN WINTER. Could be worth following. MYSTICAL TWILIGHT returns to Cape Town from a stint in Johannesburg where he faded late over slightly further. Is short priced favourite. DOWNTON ABBEY ran on in his only start this C & D three runs back. Must have a shout on that run. KING OF THE NORTH makes his debut. Son of DYNASTY. Keep an eye on the betting. SPECIAL BOND is another debutant. Son of KILDONAN.

RACE 2:
LA ROCHELLE has run well in all four starts and should not be too long in picking up his maiden. SUPERCILIOUS will be running on and has best of the draws. is the current ante post short-priced favourite. BELLA'S EMPIRE improved by just over ten lengths in her second start last time. respect on that run. MEGAN JONES disappointed on debut last time after having been supported in the betting. MISS PRISS may improve with an apprentice claiming 4 kg.

RACE 3:
JUST A JAG has been showing some improvement. His latest effort was his best in four runs.ASPARA has shown improvement in each runs since making his debut three runs back. Is the current ante post favourite and must be respected. DETENTE has also been coming along nicely in his three career starts and is also a runner. CECIL JOHN has yet to show but may improve. HARRY DA WHEELS can earn on penultimate start.

RACE 4:
MOIKA DANCER has been running on in her last two starts. Is well suited to this C & D and could be good value. CHRISALDAME finished well when winning over shorter last time. Will be even better suited to the 1600m. BE FABULOUS is in good form but has not had good fortune on her side in recent times. DENIA TIBBS could be improving again. May place. GIFT OF RAIN is the current ante post favourite and must go into the exotics. May need to confirm maiden win last time.

RACE 5:
BIG ED has won his last three over 2500m. Hasn't run in five months. The shorter journey may suit for this run. SHEPHERDS PURSE had some issues last time but ran a good second despite losing three lengths at the start and being baulked for a run in the home straight. Can make amends this afternoon. DAVID'S DYNASTY ran his best post maiden last time. Has a shout on that effort. WHAT'S NEWS may battle to repeat win last time. MUSICAL MAN is never far back but hasn't won in well over a year. One win in thirty one runs!

RACE 6:
SHISHANGENI is improving. ran on well last time and that was his best race in quite a while. VICTORIOUS JAY was rewarded last time for good consistent maiden form with a good win fourth time at the races. OCHONCAR is never far back and will be running on. Is ante post favourite. CATSIDE SLEW has yet to run a bad race in nine. In with a shout. TWENTYMANJONES weakened last time but can earn something in this race.

RACE 7:
TOPLESS has run four times. Won last two and could make it the hat trick. She will be doing her best work late. BELLA SPUMANTE won on debut seven runs back. Could do something if finding best earlier form. SWANNEE ROSE has been a consistent runner. Was bumped at the start last time but still ran on. GLAMOUR GAL won her maiden at the fourteenth try last time. Will probably need to confirm. AMARILLO ROSE won her maiden at the fourth attempt last time.

RACE 8:
EXCLUSIVE KNIGHT has very good form but this will be his twenty seventh run as a maiden. Can never be ignored. BAKSTEEN did get a good finish going last time. ARCHIE ran his best race last time when running on. Chance on that run. VAN DAM'S FORCE may battle to win but can find a minor placing on best form to date. RIVER BLAZE was just pipped in the latter stages last time. The shorter journey could help
