APPRENTICE REHAIZAT DISQUALIFIED FOR A YEAR

RACE 4 [TF0879]

The Inquiry into the running and riding of ROAN RANGER in Race 4 at the Singapore Turf Club Meeting on Friday, 17 July 2015 was concluded on Wednesday, 12 August 2015.  After taking evidence from App T Rehaizat (pictured), his Master, Trainer D Koh and Trainer S Yeoh, the Trainer of ROAN RANGER, App Rehaizat was found guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 44(8) for failing to take all reasonable and permissible measures to obtain the best possible placing.  The particulars of the charge are:

.1            he unnecessarily restrained his mount in the early and middle stages, thereby losing his position;

.2            approaching the turn into the straight, he failed to make sufficient effort to improve his position when it was reasonable and permissible to do so;

.3            in the straight, he simulated the use of his whip on a number of occasions without making contact with his horse; and

.4            over the concluding stages, he sat up and failed to ride his mount out to the Finish of the race when it was reasonable and permissible to do so.

When deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into account the nature of the charge and his record.  App Rehaizat was disqualified for a period of one year with immediate effect from Wednesday, 12 August 2015 to Thursday, 11 August 2016 both dates inclusive.  He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

On Thursday, 13 August 2015, App Rehaizat exercised his Right of Appeal against the decision of the Panel of Stewards and the penalty imposed on him.  He subsequently applied for a Stay of Sentence.

After hearing and considering submissions from App Rehaizat on Thursday, 13 August 2015, his application for a Stay of Sentence was denied by the Panel of Stewards.

The Appeal will be heard at a date to be fixed.
