Owner Nick Peacock sees the Palmerstown House Estate Irish St Leger as an attractive target for Ebor runner-up Wicklow Brave.

The talented dual-purpose performer disappointed in last month's Galway Hurdle, but performed admirably on his return to the Flat as he beat all bar the long-absent Litigant at York on Saturday.

The Willie Mullins-trained six-year-old holds entries in the Betfred Cesarewitch at Newmarket and the British Champions Long Distance Cup at Ascot in October, but Peacock is unsure about venturing over two miles and beyond with his charge.

He said: "He ran a very good race, he was just unlucky to bump into a horse who'd been off the track for 400 and odd days. He beat all the others.

"I haven't had a proper chat about it with Willie, but he is in the Irish St Leger and I'd be inclined to let him take his chance. It's a race that sometimes cuts up to a small field and there's some good prize-money on offer.

"After that, I think we'd probably give him a break as he's been on the go since January without having some time off and there isn't much else for him on the Flat.

"I don't think he'd stay the Cesarewitch trip (two and a quarter miles). Someone who is far more knowledgeable than me has suggested since Saturday that maybe he didn't even get the mile and three-quarters, so I'm fairly certain we won't be going any further than two miles again.

"After he has a break, we can look at bringing him back over hurdles. I don't think he's quite as good as the likes of Faugheen, so we'll probably be looking at the big handicaps again."
