RACE 5:

SAVAGE WIND has good form. Is never far back and should be in the mix late on. DEO JUVENTE has excellent form. Won two in a row before a creditable second last time. Will be fighting it out. KINGMAMBO'S LEGACY won last time when making his track debut. Won at Greyville the race before that. Hat trick chance. HENRY HIGGINS will need a form return to win. MARMALADY takes on stronger but she is another horse coming into the race with two consecutive wins behind her. The only filly in the race.

RACE 6:

WORLD SPORTS BETTING JOBURG SPRING F & M CHALLENGE (Grade 2) - LAZER STAR, a star in the making?

The four year old daughter of TOREADOR, LAZER STAR has an impressive career thus far with six wins from only eight starts. She won her last two comfortably. She has raced at this level before and should be hard to beat on her form. She has always given the impression that she could be one to follow at the top level. This afternoon's Grade 2 race could be that stepping stone for the upcoming Grade 1 races over the next five months or so. Jockey Weichong Marwing has been aboard her on six of her eight runs and has won five of them and finished second in the other.

At the bottom of the weights we find MADAME DUBOIS. She takes on far stronger this afternoon but has to be respected with only 52kg on her back. She began her racing career four runs back and has not won since but has never been that far back at the line. She could make the quartets pay.

Top weight FEATHERFOOT showed improvement in her last four runs before winning her own over 1400m. She does look to have ability and she is not without a chance this afternoon. Top jockey, S'Manga Khumalo has the ride for the first time.

SABAHA is highly thought of by her connections and she has made the trip along the N3 from Durban to Johannesburg for this race. This daughter of DYNASTY will be finding extra late and must have a shout. She looks to be one that is bound to improve further. This will be her toughest assignment to date.

Ignore the latest run of ALICE SPRINGS. She ran over a distance not exactly suited to her. The Mike De Kock yard has begun to fire in recent weeks and with Anthony Delpech aboard, she needs to be fully respected.

RACE 7:

WORLD SPORTS BETTING JOBURG SPRING CHALLENGE (Grade 2) - ICE MACHINE has good chance on Grade 1 form

ICE MACHINE has been racing against far stronger. A win in the Drill Hall Stakes over 1400m, followed by a seventh, only four lengths behind POWER KING in the Vodacom Durban July and an even closer short head behind behind FUTURA in the Champions Stakes. With credentials like that he must have a very good chance of winning his ninth race this afternoon. Watch for a good finish. Against him is the fact that he has yet to run at this track. The distance should a little on the short side as he won the Drill Hall Stakes on an even tighter track over 1400m. Jockey Andrew Fortune has the ride. He has been brought up to Johannesburg from Durban for the race.

Of the Mike De Kock runners, ANJAAL, looks to be the right one, especially with Anthony Delpech in the irons. His best recent run was third in the Guineas at Greyville in May. The Mike De Kock yard has come into form at the right time and ANJAAL will have his supporters.

EASY LOVER has changed stables since the end of the KZN Winter Season. She won her last race in a feature last time over further and he should be a factor.

TRIP TO HEAVEN won against weaker last time but he has faced far stronger and did look to be a promising sort early on in his career. Respect the Sean Tarry and S'Manga Khumalo combination, especially on feature race days.

BEZANOVA is as honest as they come and he too has faced some very strong fields and can never be left out of  any selections.

RACE 8:

ARUM POT has been rested since his latest effort at Greyville over three months back. MOD BARLEY has good form behind him and should be in the shake up. HEAVY METAL is classy but has been battling to recapture earlier form. NICE STRIDE can place on an improved latest run. ZAMBEZI RIVER tends to disappoint against stronger fields. Could be at home this afternoon.

RACE 9:

MIRACLE RISING was not disgraced in the Golden Slipper at Greyville on Vodacom Durban July Day. This is not as strong a field. Should be the one to beat. SPANISH KISS won her maiden at the third attempt last time. Can earn. PATTY CAKE lacks finish but could improve. LA STRADA ran against stronger on sand last time. STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN needs a form return to win.

RACE 10:

YOURS AND MINE could cause a huge upset. Occasionally give a glimpse that he could win his maiden. BEAUFORT SEA has some fair form and did run on last time. RESPECTABLE RULER has filled second place in five out of eight races. IN THE OVEN has run improved races in his last three. SCARE TACTICS needs a better finish.
