PREVIEW: VAAL -  21 NOVEMBER 2015


RACE 1:

LADY STARLETT has finished well in both starts to finish third in both. Looks hard to oppose on those runs. ROSE WATER is a SILVANO first timer. Watch the betting! CAPRICIOUS was far from disgraced in her best run ever. May be worth considering. QUEEN OF ARTS may improve with the blinkers. Watch! WINTER BREEZE did show improvement second time last time. Piere Strydom has the ride again.

1st - LADY STARLETT (8); 2nd - ROSE WATER (12); 3rd - CAPRICIOUS (2); 4th - QUEEN OF ARTS (1); 5th - WINTER BREEZE (14) 

RACE 2:

SCARE TACTICS ran on strongly last two. Strong chance on those two runs. TALBEC showed very good improvement second time at the races last time. Has a chance in this field. MY FAVOURITE BROWN is still improving and Gavin Lerena has the ride for the first time. YOURS AND MINE has some steady form. POST BOX needs a better finish.

1st - SCARE TACTICS (6); 2nd - TALBEC (14); 3rd - MY FAVOURITE BROWN (7); 4th - YOURS AND MINE (8); 5th - POST BOX (2)

RACE 3:

PERA HUR is never far back and could make a bold bid at generous odds. ROLLIN IN DA DEEP showed some improvement last time but needs a more concerted efforts at the finish. STAR OF BURMA has been consistent of late and should earn something. FIRST OFFICER AL is current ante post favourite. Respect  the market. Ignore latest effort. WILLIAM NICOL may have a place chance if getting to run. Reserve runner.

1st - PERA HUR (5); 2nd - ROLLIN IN DA DEEP (3); 3rd - STAR OF BURMA (2); 4th - FIRST OFFICER AL (9); 5th - WILLIAM NICOL (16)

RACE 4:

TOKYO DRIFT won on debut last time. Could repeat. BLUE TRACTOR ran on well on the sand last time. Tries the turf after an absence on this surface for some time. LUNDY'S STAR is in good form over further. CELTIC KING loves this C & D and did run on last time. LEIGH WOODS ran a good maiden debut before winning next time. Third run and is still improving.

1st - TOKYO DRIFT (4); 2nd - BLUE TRACTOR (5); 3rd - LUNDY'S STAR (3); 4th - CELTIC KING (1); 5th - LEIGH WOODS (11) 

RACE 5:

PAREE could be the best of a weak bunch but should be considered all the same on best runs thus far. MISRISTROCRAT  disappointed last time but can be considered on previous better runs. KENTON ON SEA has yet to show in both post maiden runs. Respect yard and jockey. WANDIE'S did not show in her post maiden last time. Again respect yard and jockey. ANTONIA MAJOR needs to find a far better finish to win.

1st - PAREE (7); 2nd - MISRISTOCRAT (4); 3rd - KENTON ON SEA (1); 4th - WANDIE'S (3); 5th - ANTONIA MAJOR (5) 

RACE 6:

SAVE THE DAY has improved in leaps and bounds in her last two. Should be right there. OFF THE MARK could be ready to improve again. NKOMO loses ground at the start but finishes well. The form of TORRELAVEGA has improved again. WENSLEYDALE runs well this C & D.

1st - SAVE THE DAY (5); 2nd - OFF THE MARK (4); 3rd - NKOMO (1); 4th - TORRELAVEGA (7); 5th - WENSLEYDALE (8) 

RACE 7:

KAPITAN always challenges and has good form. Should be the one to beat. Is a C & D winner. DOWN UNDER is holding form but weakens late.  KAPELLMEISTER has been a little bit flat in his last two. Chance on earlier form. FLAG OF FRANCE did not show with blinkers last time. May be worth following this afternoon. SOVEREIGN MINT has been disappointing against stronger. May relish this class this afternoon.

1st - KAPITAN (3); 2nd - DOWN UNDER (7); 3rd - KAPELLMEISTER (8); 4th - FLAG OF FRANCE (2); 5th - SOVEREIGN MINT (1) 

RACE 8:

BARBEL RUN drops in class. A weak race. Can feature. MY TREASURE was not himself last time also against stronger. Can challenge. DEVIOUS TIGER loves this C & D and does have a definite chance. RETURN TO THE SUN will need to repeat penultimate start. BENBOW  never showed at this track on Tuesday. Can pop up.

1st - BARBEL RUN (2); 2nd - MY TREASURE (1); 3rd - DEVIOUS TIGER (9); 4th - RETURN TO THE SUN (6); 5th - BENBOW (5) 

RACE 9:

LADY ON FIRE has improved in her last two. STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN did not respond to blinkers last time. Better without. Removed today! CORATINA won her maiden at the third attempt last time. Not much to beat home in this field. SHIVER 'N SHAKE will need to win penultimate when winning at Turffontein. KATCH is losing form but a capable sort on her day.
