WORLD SPORTS BETTING COMPUTAFORM SPRINT (Grade 1) - No stopping CARRY ON ALICE as she leaves the boys in tears
What a performance at Turffontein by CARRY ON ALICE this afternoon as the four year old filly cruised home in the Grade 1 sprint over 1000m. There was a well represented field in this year's race with horses from Cape Town, Port Elizabeth and Durban to add to those from Gauteng. Included in the race were two record holders in BLIZZARD BELLE, the fastest 1000m in the country and MUSCATT, the Scottsville and Kenilworth record holder over 1000m. Interestingly, it was both record holders who entered the starting stalls first.
The break was a good one except for DARING DAVE who was slow by a couple of lengths. CARRY ON ALICE, drawn on the outside, a draw that favours outside horses on the Turffontein straight, was content to bide his time just behind the leading group. Having said that, on the day CARRY ON ALICE would have won had she been drawn on the tractor track outside the race track.
MUSCATT and BLIZZARD BELLE, the only other filly in the race, led the pack at a fast pace with BELONG TO ME and TRIP TEASE just off them. One did not have to look hard to see the filly in purple and yellow silks as the Sean Tarry trained CARRY ON ALICE cruised into the lead with 400m to go race. Jockey S'Manga Khumalo at no stage had to work on the filly. TALKTOTHESTARS ran on for second with TRIP TEASE staying on for fourth in a honest effort. BARBOSA ran on for third.
The win, her eighth from twenty two starts, has pushed her earnings to well over R3 000 000. This win made up for her narrow defeat in this race last year when beaten just over half a length by ALBORAN SEA. This was the Sean Tarry/S'Manga Khumalo's second Grade 1 win from two for the day, with another two to go.
