FILLIES LINE UP FOR STRELITZIA GLORY

Sunday’s Gr3 Strelitzia Stakes looks a highly competitive affair, with 12 two-year-olds set to do battle with the fillies all out to acquire some valuable black type. There are four fillies in the race who have won their only start to date –Awesomeness (Alado), Great Aim (Main Aim), Holly’s Vision (Pathfork) and Under The Stars (Antonius Pius).

The latter was particularly impressive when victorious first out over 1000m at Greyville and the extra 200m of Sunday’s race should not be a problem. She is trying turf for a first time and clearly takes a jump in class, but there was plenty to like about Under The Stars’ debut effort and she could be better than exposed form suggests.

Great Aim won over 1000m at Scottsville on debut, beating subsequent winners Vanity Fair (Var) (who re-opposes here) and Victory Trip (Trippi) and has a chance on that effort. Holly’s Vision (Pathfork) had to work hard to win first time out on the polytrack and should need to improve in this company, while the form of Awesomeness’ debut win has been knocked with both the runner and third place finishers being subsequently beaten.Glen Kotzen, who won this race with Royal Pleasure (Visionaire) two years ago, saddles the promising Gold Image (Horse Chestnut), who won by two and a quarter lengths on debut and then was not disgraced when third (against males) in the Kuda Sprint.

With runner up Wonderwall (Querari) having franked that form with an easy win next time out, Gold Image looks a big runner here is not needing her first outing since January. Her stable mate Princess Peach (Captain Al) won well first time out, over subsequent winner Nanna Anna (What A Winter), and was slow away when only 8th in the Listed Summer Juvenile Stakes next time out.

Made In Hollywood (Querari) was most impressive winning her maiden as she liked by 6.25 lengths two starts back at Kenilworth. She was not disgraced when a close up third to the stakes placed colt Dutch Philip (What A Winter) and must be a runner on that effort.

Vanity Fair (Var) is held on paper by Great Aim on their previous meeting but could well have come on from that first up effort and did win a good race next time out.Neptune’s Rain (Antonius Pius) was a game winner, over the same course and distance as Sunday’s race, on debut and was just touched off by longshot Crymeariver (Elusive Fort) next time out.

Champion trainer Sean Tarry is having an unbelievable season and his runners always need respect. He saddles Lolita Delago (Dan De Lago) in Sunday’s contest, with the latter running out an easy maiden winner 2 starts back. She does need to improve off her unplaced finish in the Listed Ruffian Stakes to feature here.

Roy’s Mojarra (Al Miqdaam) was well beaten on her only appearance to date and has plenty to prove here, while fellow maiden Flamboyant (Horse Chestnut) also looks to need improvement to beat some of these.
