Moutonshoek will be standing two exciting new stallions for 2017, in the form of Galileo’s G1 winning son The United States and Admiral Kitten. The latter, himself a G1 winner on turf, is the first son of US champion sire Kitten’s Joy to retire to stud in South Africa.

The globetrotting The United States was a superb racehorse, who competed at the highest level around the world. His seven wins netted him more than $2 million in stakes, with his victories highlighted by a score in the G1 Ranvet Stakes –a race also won by such champions as Tulloch, Gunsynd, and Peter Pan.

The United States, also a G3 winner in Ireland, won or placed in 11 major feature races and competed with some of the best horses around.

Among those beaten by The United States during his racing career were the likes of G1 winners Awesome Rock, Boban, Criterion, Mongolian Khan, Sofia Rosa, Trust In A Gust, and Melbourne Cup winner Prince Of Penzance.

The United States is one of more than 230 stakes winners for Epsom Derby winner and multiple champion sire Galileo, whose other notable sire sons include top class stallions New Approach, Teofilo and the sensational Frankel. The premier sire in the world today, Galileo is responsible for the favourites in both the first two English classics, the 2000 and 1000 Guineas, run at Newmarket this weekend.

Bred on the same Galileo/Pivotal cross as current English classic hope and G1 Dubai Fillies Mile winner Rhododendron, The United States is out of the G3 winning speedball Beauty Is Truth, a daughter of world leading sire and top sprinter Pivotal.

He is a full-brother to recent G3 Ballylinch 1000 Guineas Trial winner Hydrangea, a leading contender for Sunday’s G1 QIPCO 1000 Guineas. This is the same family as G1 Breeders’ Cup Mile winner and champion sire Last Tycoon, whose numerous high class performers include top class sires Marju and O’Reilly among many others.

Admiral Kitten, whose four wins included the G1 Secretariat Stakes-a race also won by his champion sire Kitten’s Joy, was a top flight turf performer in the US who not only won the Secretariat Stakes but also ran second in the G1 Hollywood Derby.

He is one of more than 70 stakes winners sired by US turf champion and multiple G1 winner Kitten’s Joy, who has headed US turf sires list for the past four years in a row. His top offspring include the Breeders’ Cup winners Stephanie’s Kitten, Bobby’s Kitten and Oscar Performance, with Kitten’s Joy runners having amassed over $66 million in prize money.

Admiral Kitten, who is bred on the same Kitten’s Joy/Grand Slam cross as G1 winner Kitten’s Dumplings, is from an outstanding family whose members include champion sires Cozzene and Fort Wood, as well as the once defeated superstar Dubai Millennium, whose son Dubawi is one of the world’s elite sires.

Admiral Kitten (by a grandson of Sadler’s Wells) is closely related to champion sire Fort Wood, with the latter being a son of Sadler’s Wells himself. This is also the family of G1 Breeders’ Cup Mile winner and champion sire Cozzene, whose offspring included current top class sire Mizzen Mast and the Breeders’ Cup winners Alphabet Soup and Tikkanen.

Stud fees are yet to be announced for either sire, both of whom will stand his first season at Moutonshoek in 2017.
