Apprentice Lyle Hewitson will be jetting off to Kazan, Russia at the end of August to contest the 8th race of the HH Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Apprentice World Championship (IFAHR) to be held at the Kazan Racecourse on Wednesday 30 August. Kazan is a 1,011 year old city and is considered to be the “third capital” of Russia after Moscow and St Petersburg. Kazan has the biggest racecourse in Russia, and this leg of the HH Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Apprentice World Championship (IFAHR) promises to be very special as it will be held on National Day for Kazan!
Lyle is very excited to be representing South Africa and said “It’s such a privilege to be chosen to represent the Academy and our country by participating in such races. I’m really looking to this new international experience!”
Lyle is in excellent form having bounced back from injury and secured the National Champion Apprentice title by a massive margin. Furthermore, the last time Lyle participated in such an event in Abu Dhabi, he won the Wathba Stud Farm Cup For Private Owners Only over 1200m, at the Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club aboard “IBN HARMANY AL ZOBAIR (AE)” trained by Ernst Oertel.
