They have great spirit and higher than average endurance and are used in saddle seat, western or advanced dressage.

Quarter Horse
An American breed, the quarter horse is certainly the most popular in the US. Known to be very fast on short distances, they are often used in competitions or for western pleasure riding. They are also used for hunting in certain parts of America.

Thoroughbred
Best known for their use in horse racing competitions, the thoroughbred is a horse that has its origins in England somewhere in the 17th century. They are best known for their high spirit and tolerance. Often used for races, polo or fox hunting, you will see a lot of them in the UK. Tennessee Walker
This horse breed was developed in the US around the 18th century to be used on plantations and farms. Their four-beat walk makes them ideal for comfortable riding on long distances. They met glory during the Civil War when they were often used by generals. Today, they are used for shows and also pleasure mounts.

Morgan
A compact body and a brave and calm behavior, the Morgan is one of the oldest breeds created in the United States. Today, they are used on farms and for riding lessons. They are excellent with kids and it makes them ideal for youngsters that want to become jockeys.

Paint
Another American breed, the paint breed gets its name from an interesting combination of spots and colors. And just like the quarter horse, paints are often used in western disciplines or pleasure mounts.

Appaloosa
A tough and independent breed, the Appaloosa has a big body and a sparse tail. They’re often used as stock horses and also make excellent trail horses.

Miniature horse
Developed in Europe around the 1600s, they are often mistaken for ponies, however, there’s a big difference between the two breeds. Often used in coal mines, they are used as driving horses or even service animals on some occasions.

Warmblood
Even though technically the warmblood is not exactly a breed but more of a group that engulfs a series of types and breeds, the warmbloods are best characterized by open book policies and are known for making excellent sport horses, capable of big jumps and doing very good in dressage.

Andalusian
A breed that originates in Spain, the Andalusian is strong, elegant, and compact making them perfect for dressage, saddle seat or even jumping.
