City Of Troy is set to face ten competitors in Saturday's Qipco 2,000 Guineas at Newmarket as Aidan O'Brien has withdrawn his other three entries, as anticipated.

Last year's champion juvenile has maintained his position as the frontrunner for the season's first Classic, following impressive victories in the Group 2 Superlative Stakes and Group 1 Dewhurst on the Rowley Mile.

With O'Brien opting to withdraw Henry Longfellow, River Tiber, and Diego Velazquez from the race during the declaration stage, City Of Troy will stand as the sole contender for the Ballydoyle and Coolmore alliance. These connections seek their first triumph in the race since Magna Grecia's victory in 2019.

City Of Troy endeavors to replicate the success of Churchill, the last favorite to win the race in 2017, also under the guidance of Ballydoyle and Coolmore. Coincidentally, this marks the last triumph for jockey Ryan Moore in the event. This year's race boasts the smallest field since 2017, with only ten entrants.

Among City Of Troy's challengers are Rosallion and Haatem, both trained by Richard Hannon. Rosallion secured victory in the Group 1 Jean-Luc Lagardere at Longchamp in October, while Haatem impressed with a recent win in the Craven Stakes.

Godolphin's Notable Speech, Night Raider, and Ghostwriter, all undefeated, bring additional excitement to the competition after showcasing their prowess in previous outings.

Juddmonte, last year's winning owners, will be represented by Task Force, trained by Ralph Beckett, while Alyanaabi, Iberian, Inisherin, and Ten Bob Tony complete the competitive field.
