Schwarz Rides the Jackpot

Third year apprentice Denis Schwarz had the biggest day of his racing career, so far, on Wednesday 6 December when he won all 4 legs of the Jackpot! Denis won Race 5 aboard “EVERLASTING LOVE” trained by Robbie Hill, Race 6 aboard “LALA” trained by Doug Campbell, Race 7 aboard “COSIMA” trained by Garth Puller and Race 8 aboard “HEY GEORGIE GIRL” trained by Doug Campbell.

Denis, who is current Head Boy at the Academy, has just completed writing his Matric Exams a few weeks ago was very excited and said “Riding all 4 legs of the Jackpot is really special and a wonderful experience! I must, first of all, thank the owners and trainers of the horses I rode today, without the opportunities they gave me such a feat would not be possible! I also want to thank my Jockey Coaches for all the guidance and help they give me to improve my riding skills. Lastly I want to thank my family for all their support they give me in everything I do!”

South African Jockey Academy Principal, Graham Bailey, was elated saying “Denis deserves all the success he receives, he works very hard on both his academics and race riding and overcame a major injury earlier this year that side lined from riding and racing for 6 months! His hard work continues to pay off for him and I’m sure there will be much more future success for Denis!”

Bailey also praised the KZN Jockey Coaches, Stephen Jupp, Laurence O’ Donoghue and Nicky Roebuck saying “Stephen, Laurence and Nicky constantly work with our apprentices to try and improve their race riding skills and the success of Denis and our other KZN apprentices are the fruits of their labour!”
