According to German website, galopponline, "The Ammerland Stud and the Bernried Stud, will no longer be used for thoroughbred breeding in the future."
Dietrich von Boetticher (pictured), the owner of the two stud farms on Lake Starnberg, confirmed this to Sport-Welt on Thursday when asked.
"We will completely abandon thoroughbred breeding," says von Boetticher. The racing team will also be further reduced, and no more youngsters will move into the stables.
As thoroughbred studs, Ammerland and Bernried will not be passed on to the next generation, the children of Annabel and Dietrich von Boetticher.
The stud has produced some legendary horses including the likes of Hurrican Run, Waldgeist, Golden Lilac, Loup de Vega and Borgia.
