Star racehorse Anamoe has been given a prime opportunity to leave an immediate mark in the breeding arena, as confirmed by Darley, who reported that he covered an impressive 149 mares in his debut season in the breeding shed in 2023.
While the final stallion statistics for the 2023 season are pending publication by the Australian Stud Book, early reports indicate that first-season sires In The Congo, Hitotsu, and Jacquinot surpassed the 150-mare mark in their breeding endeavors. In The Congo has South African interest as his dam is Via Africa, the Gr1 winning SAF mare by Var.
Anamoe, at his peak Australia's highest rate horse of his year, hails from the lineage of Street Boss. Anamoe entered the Kelvinside roster with a service fee of $121,000 last year, boasting a remarkable resume of nine Group 1 victories, including prestigious titles like the Cox Plate, Caulfield Guineas, and Sires' Produce Stakes.
Out of the 149 mares served between September and December, a substantial 127 have been confirmed as expecting. Notably, nearly half of the mares serviced were Stakes winners, encompassing 11 G1 champions.
Among the distinguished mares covered were Godolphin's own G1 winners Kiamichi and Guelph, in addition to Lasqueti Spirit, Aloisia, She's Licketysplit, and Lighthouse.
Anamoe also lent his services to the mothers of eight individual G1 winners, including Dazzler (dam of Bivouac), Confidential Queen (dam of Private Eye), and Breakfast In Bed (dam of King's Legacy).
