Undefeated three-year-old Crocetti took the spotlight at Saturday's Karaka Millions mega meeting at Ellerslie, starting the evening perfectly in the opening race. The Zacinto gelding, a $1.40 favorite, boasted a flawless six-from-six record, including victories in the Gr.1 New Zealand 2000 Guineas, Gr.2 Sarten Memorial, and Gr.3 Northland Breeders’ Stakes.
Despite carrying 60kg and stumbling at the starting gates, Crocetti, ridden by jockey Warren Kennedy, showcased his class by surging past rivals, securing victory by a length and a half. Kennedy acknowledged the pressure surrounding the unbeaten horse but praised Crocetti's relaxed demeanor and devastating turn of foot.
Trained by Danny Walker in partnership with Arron Tata, Crocetti has earned $672,750 in stakes for owner Daniel Nakhle. The next challenge awaits in the Gr.1 BCD Group Sprint at Te Rapa on February 10, with Walker expressing gratitude for the team's efforts and highlighting Crocetti as a "little star."
