Orffer Fined R35k, suspended, Van Niekerk Ride Questioned

The most significant parts of the stipes report as compiled by the NHA have reported that Corne Orffer has been fined R35 250 and suspended for crop misuse in the Gold Cup.

Here is the full report..

Jockey C Orffer signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (Appendix E; Guideline M), in that he as the rider of MASTER REDOUTE misused his crop by striking this gelding more than twelve times (14) which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R35 250 and a suspension of not riding in races for a period of 14 days was imposed. (Dates to be advised).

Also, the ride by Jockey Grant Van Niekerk, in reference to the closing stages of Race 9 on Red Palace will be investigated.
