Ridden by top jockey Anthony Delpech, hot favourite Mr. Brock broke an old
myth by becoming the first horse ever having won both the Supertote Golden
Trophy and the prestigious Maiden, sponsored this year by The Phnix Beverages
Group, over 2 300m.
In the initial part of the race, a trio of horses : Ubusuku (Emamdee), Keen
To Win (Venkaya) and Mr. Brock (Anthony Delpech) were in the lead. Nearing the
1000m, Mr. Brock produced his devastating acceleration only to increase the gap
over his opponents. At the 600m, Mr Brock was already hard to catch as he
rocketted towards the finishing post in scintillating finish.
"He won easily and also the fact that he was ridden by Anthony Delpech
eased a bit the pressure. It is a memorable triumph", ventured Trainer
Gilbert Rousset.
