SAOIRE, purchased for �65,000 at the 2003 Tattersalls (Ireland) September
Yearling Sale, made history when winning the Boylesports Irish 1000 Guineas for
trainer Frances Crowley, becoming the first Irish Classic winner to be trained
by a woman.
SAOIRE, a daughter of PIVOTAL, is the second 2005 European Classic winner
from the 2003 Tattersalls (Ireland) September Yearling Sale, following the win
of �5,000 purchase SILVER CUP in the Italian 1000 Guineas, while another
graduate of the same sale, the �72,000 purchase INDESATCHEL was only narrowly
denied Classic glory in the previous weekend`s Group 1 Poule d` Essai des
Poulains, when beaten a head by SHAMARDAL.
SAOIRE, purchased for 4,000 guineas by Larry Stratton at the 2002 Tattersalls
December Foal Sale, was sold by Richard Kent`s Helshaw Grange Stud at the 2003
Tattersalls (Ireland) September Yearling Sale where he was purchased by Martin
Cullinane on behalf of owner Joseph Joyce.
Entries for the 2005 Tattersalls (Ireland) September Yearling Sale, which
will feature the only qualifiers for the �300,000 Tattersalls (Ireland) Sales
Stakes, will close on Tuesday 31st May. The 2005 Sale will take place from
Tuesday 20th September to Thursday 22nd September and is expected to number
approximately 650 yearlings.
