The Sangster family issued a statement this afternoon following the surprise
announcement that John Gosden had purchased Clarehaven Stables in Newmarket and
would be vacating Manton by the end of February 2006.
"During his very successful 6-year tenure John trained over 400 winners
at Manton including numerous group and classic horses earning his owners over
7 million in prize money.
"Obviously at this moment no decisions have been made regarding the
future of Manton but it is the family`s present intention to continue training
there. The property now consists of four separate yards, three different all
weather surfaces and arguably the finest private grass gallops in the country.
The continued development at Manton now means that we could accommodate more
than one trainer in the future.
"The Sangster family would like to thank John for continuing the
tradition of success at Manton and wish him the best of luck in the
future."
