The Aidan O’Brien trained ADELAIDE (IRE) has raced in four different countries this year but he showed no ill effects from travelling when landing the Grade 1 Secretariat Stakes at Arlington Park in Chicago on Saturday. The son of Galileo and Royal Ascot heroine Elletelle had been narrowly denied previously in a Grade 1 in Belmont but made no mistake on this occasion under Ryan Moore, galloping on strongly to beat Tourist by a length and a half. It was a first leg of a European trained double for Ryan Moore and he commented; "Adelaide just had more class than the field and got the job done. He's run in France, Ireland, England, America, and America again." Adelaide (IRE), pictured winning at The Curragh, looks to have more long haul travel on his agenda as he was recently bought into by Australian interests with a view to targeting the Cox Plate. Later on the card Aidan O’Brien was narrowly denied a US Grade 1 double when last year’s Breeder’s Cup Turf hero Magician (IRE) was just touched off by Hardest Core in the Arlington Million.
