Pluck, winner of the 2010 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf (gr. IIT), gained his first winner when Australian-bred Gasoline won at Ellerslie in New Zealand Dec. 26.
A 7-year-old son of More Than Ready , Pluck stands at Vinery Australia. His dam is Fort Wood's daughter Secret Heart, a South African stakes winner who was group I-placed three times. He has 109 2-year-olds in his first crop.
Pluck won three of seven career starts, including the Juvenile Turf by a length at Churchill Downs after annexing the Summer Stakes Presented by TVG (Can-III) at Woodbine. He bankrolled lifetime earnings of $727,290 for Team Valor International.
Gasoline, trained by Murray Baker and Andrew Forsman for a partnership, won the 1,100-meter (about 5 1/2-furlong) event by 2 1/4 lengths in 1:04.97 on turf rated good. The 2-year-old colt is out of the Danehill mare Miguelita and is from the family of 2015 European Horse of the Year Golden Horn.
