AUSSIE OWNER ARRESTED FOR DRUG SMUGGLING FROM SA

Everest slot-holding owner Damion Flower has allegedly been arrested on drugs charges in Sydney overnight.

Newspaper The Daily Telegraph are reporting that Flower, who owns shares in up to 50 horses including super stallion Snitzel, was taken into custody by the NSW Organised Crime Squad and Federal Police.

It is reported that Flower has been charged for his role in smuggling cocaine on commercial flights from South Africa.

Three arrests were made following a long-running investigation conducted by the Australian Federal Police (AFP), Australia Border Force (ABF), the NSW Police Force, Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission and the Bepartment of Home Affairs (DHA). The investigation commenced in February 2019.

Flower was reportedly one of three men taken into custody in relation to the investigation which also saw a 50-year-old Oran Park airport worker arrested on Wednesday, May 22, found to be in the possession of 28 kilograms of a substance believed to be cocaine.

Approximately $8 million in cash was seized at a Hoxton Park location linked to the 50-year-old Oran Park man.

Today's arrests follow the arrest o fa 42-year-old man back on April 15 who was alleged to be in the possession of 27 kilograms of a substance believed to be cocaine.

AFP Detective Acting Superintendent Brad Edgtton said the investigation was a great example of the combined efforts of Australian authorities in breaking up criminal networks.

“This has been a complex, multi-layered investigation, driven by the skills and expertise of intelligence analysts who were able to identify this offending to allow authorities to act,” Detective Edgtton said.

ABF Acting Regional Commander NSW Garry Low stated the investigation was an example of the threats facing the ABF.

“These men used their intimate knowledge of the aviation environment to conduct this smuggling operation – but still weren’t able to avoid our detection. I’m proud of our investigators and intelligence team, who have all worked particularly hard in this joint operation to achieve this result and counter this major criminal activity,” he said.

Flower, who raced Snitzel and still retains shares in the stallion, owns Platinum Park at Hawkesbury in Sydney which is operated by trainer Brad Widdup.

He is also a part-owner of Chauffeur, who races in Victoria and sports his red silks with white spots.
