Raymond Danielson Heads to Mauritius to Join Arveen Nagadoo Team

South African jockey Raymond Danielson is set to begin a new chapter in his career with a stint in Mauritius. Sources close to the Mauritian racing circuit confirm that Danielson is expected to arrive on the island on Sunday, September 21, and will be riding for new trainer Arveen Nagadoo.

Danielson, one of South Africa’s most experienced and respected riders, has built a reputation for his tactical nous and strong finishing ability. His career includes major wins on horses like Forest Path, host 1st G1 winner and the classy The Apache, the highest rated horse he has won on. Known for his patient style in big races, Danielson has often been the go-to rider for trainers seeking a calm head in pressure situations. He was recently the rider of See It Again. Danielson licence is pending but seemingly a formality, as confirmed by Mauritius Turf Passionates.

His move to Mauritius comes at an exciting time for the local racing scene, which has increasingly attracted top Southern Hemisphere riders to its competitive program. While the exact length of Danielson’s stay is yet to be determined, those familiar with the deal suggest that it will depend on how well he performs in the coming weeks.

For trainer Arveen Nagadoo, who has been a rising force at Champ de Mars, securing the services of Danielson represents a strategic move as he looks to bolster his stable’s chances during the remainder of the Mauritian season.

If successful, Danielson’s arrival could add an extra layer of intrigue to the island’s tightly contested jockey standings, which often go down to the wire.
