CRIMSON PALACE RETIRED In breaking news coming out of America, Crimson Palace, winner of the Grade
One Beverly D Stakes in August at Arlington Park, will miss the Grade One
Breeders` Cup Filly and Mare Turf at Lone Star Park, Texas on Saturday, October
30th. She has subsequently been retired.
Godolphin`s Simon Crisford said: "Crimson Palace wasn`t right after
training at the weekend. Unfortunately we have run out of time with her and she
will not run at the Breeders` Cup meeting."
She will be best remembered for her outstanding performance in the Beverly D,
Grade 1. She also won 4 of her 6 starts in South Africa, all at Kenilworth,
including the Grade 1 Cape Paddock Stakes in December 2002. She was fourth
to Paraca (Arg) (Graded winner in Australia) in the Majorca Stakes on her only
outing in 2003. Crimson Palace was off for nearly a year and the came out
to win a minor event at Nad Al Sheba by 4.75 lengths breaking Ipi Tombe`s course
record. She was promptly acclaimed by her then trainer, Mike De Kock as the next
Ipi Tombe. She was a gallant fourth to Paolini and Right Approach in the Gr1
Dubai Duty Free at Nad Al Sheba in her first start for Godolphin after having a
troubled run.
Crimson Palace (ELLIODOR (FR) PERFECT GUEST (SAF) (NORTHERN GUEST
(USA)) retires with a Timeform rating of 117 and remains one of the best
ever fillies to be bred in South Africa. The dual Group One winning mare will
now retire to stud but no mating plans have been announced.
