Inglis Mobile to Assist Buyers, Vendors and Media

In keeping with a series of ground breaking technology developments over the past 12 months, Australia’s leading thoroughbred auctioneers today announced the launch of Inglis Mobile, a lightweight version of the Inglis website to assist buyers, vendors and the media when they’re out of the office. This is another world first for a thoroughbred sales company.

Customers with a web enabled mobile phone such as a Blackberry, iPhone or Smart Phone are now able to access Inglis Mobile at http://m.inglis.com.au . Inglis Mobile will be particularly useful during live sales when buyers and vendors don’t have ready access to a computer at the sales grounds. Inglis Mobile will continue to evolve in the months and years ahead, but the current service already allows clients to:

View the current lot in the ring and results for the last 5 lots View progressive sale statistics, such as average price and clearance rate View results by lot for the current sale and for the previous two sales View a list of passed in lots and make an offer directly to an Inglis representative by clicking on the relevant passed in lot View withdrawn lots for the current or next sale View contact details for Inglis offices and staff View the latest press release The launch of Inglis Mobile comes a little over 12 months since Inglis introduced a live internet bidding service, the first thoroughbred sales company to utilise this technology outside of the USA.

Inglis Managing Director Mark Webster commented that, “Since March 2008, more than 1000 lots offered at Inglis auctions have received an online bid. Of the lots to receive a bid, 271 have been sold to online bidders for a total value of $2.75m. Aside from being a great service to buyers who can’t always attend our sales, we are confident that online bidding is improving the clearance rate of our sales by 2-3% which is great for our vendors. It was pleasing to see Tattersalls introduce this service in October 2008 and quite frankly now that it’s tried and tested it should be a standard service offered by all major sales companies. Racehorses and breeding stock sell particularly well online, with more than 100 regular bidders from all parts of Australia and Asia logging in at Inglis sales.”
