Gr1 winner Thunderstruck to Stand at Ridgemont

Ridgemont is proud to announce the addition of dual Grade 1 winning sprinter Thunderstruck to their stallion barn in the Robertson Valley for the upcoming breeding season, following his remarkable victory at Day 3 of The Championships raceday at Turffontein.

Thunderstruck, a son of Ridgemont's stallion Rafeef, showcased his exceptional speed by clinching the Grade 1 Computaform Sprint, mirroring the success of his sire.

Adding to the prestige of Ridgemont's stallion roster, Thunderstruck becomes the third member of the Redoute's Choice lineage to stand at the historic Robertson nursery. Rafeef, being sired by the revered former Arrowfield champion, and barnmate Real Gone Kid, sired by his champion son Snitzel, further enhance the rich heritage of the stud.

Thunderstruck's appeal extends beyond his racing prowess, as he represents a third-generation winner of the Computaform Sprint, inheriting winning genes from his sire Rafeef and his dam National Colour, who dominated the Turffontein dash in 2006.

Craig Kieswetter of Ridgemont expresses excitement about Thunderstruck's prospects as a stallion, citing his toughness, soundness, and consistent performance across different racing venues. With Thunderstruck's addition, Ridgemont looks forward to introducing a new dimension to their stallion barn, building upon Rafeef's successful progeny in both sprinting and staying categories.

The acquisition of Thunderstruck is made possible through the efforts of Mary Slack, Jehan Malherbe, and the supportive shareholders, reflecting Ridgemont's commitment to maintaining a tradition of champions.
