Osborne Handed Suspended Ban Over Inappropriate Act

Trainer Jamie Osborne, best known internationally for campaigning high-profile runners on both sides of the Atlantic, has received a three-month suspension, itself suspended for six months, following a breach of the British Horseracing Authority’s Code of Conduct arising from an incident at a racecourse in 2025.

According to the BHA’s findings, Osborne was interviewed approximately three weeks after the incident and admitted taking a photograph of a person’s clothed bottom without their consent.

The regulator found that the image was taken with the intention of sharing it in a WhatsApp group of which Osborne was a member. During the investigation, it was established that the group had a name described as “Great Bums” or something similar.

The case was assessed under the provisions of the BHA Code of Conduct, which sets standards of behaviour expected from licensed participants within the sport.

Significantly, Osborne accepted that his actions constituted breaches of both Point 1 and Point 3 of the Code of Conduct, removing any dispute over the underlying facts of the case.

The disciplinary outcome means the three-month suspension will only come into effect should there be a further breach during the six-month suspension period attached to the sanction.

Osborne is a familiar figure on the international racing stage. His most notable success came with Toast of New York, winner of the 2014 UAE Derby and later runner-up in both the Pacific Classic and Breeders’ Cup Classic. More recently, he sent Heart of Honor to the United States for the 2025 Preakness Stakes, where the colt was ridden by his daughter, Saffie Osborne.

The ruling serves as another reminder of the BHA’s continued focus on conduct and behaviour standards across all levels of British racing.
