POCKET POWER DRAWS WELL, IN LINE FOR "MET" HISTORY

 Pocket Power is bidding for an unprecedented fourth J&B crown and his connections did him proud by pulling out the number 2 slot at the post position draw held in Cape Town today.

The conditions of the race suit PP every other horse is under sufferance, this has to impact negatively on the win tote bets, pp needs to just show up on raceday ready for action and he will win again. Maybe they should just make the race wfa because its pretty close to that.Besides Dan De Lago, the others are running for minor places.

Look at it this way, PP cannot improve anymore...PP is PP, the improvement of the other horses is the Big Question and I think it will be solidly answered. Remeber the Jockey mounts of last year are not the same as this year, some joks have horses that can only improve...and improve 10 fold. The draw should not be a factor for the improvers. Oracy, Fort Vogue, Dan the man and Mother Russia. My analogy gives me a feeling that these are the improvers. I however agree with Clive Rene that RIVER JETEZ is the one to beat so I am going confidently with a Dan and the River.

I dont know much about horses but what I know is that I will make sure its undertsood. My original fancy was a 3 year old. I then looked at who has the most improvement to make as a 4 year old considering their 3 year old form and only 3 horses carry that Flag. Dan, Oracy and Fort Vogue. The tried and tested have shown us already what they have but the biggest improver is Dan because his form is measured against Oracy. If Oracy was drawn mid to inner I would have put the lights out but I cant because Dans form makes the most appeal, he has not run the distance this season because I think Charlie sharpend him on the grinding stone without loosing purpose.Now Dan wants the distance like a fire needs a flame...its race over.

Oh and I stick to my swinger River and Dan..could make for a nice headline dan swims across the river just as they past the 200m mark and leaves Pocket Power wondering if he has already crossed the border in trying to please everyone. I love PP unfortunately my head pounds my heart...stick to reality...Carl Lewis was King of the Olympics for a Decade but it ended when a youngster emerged...thats life. Dam man its Dan man what can stop him? because nobody can...Lights out!!! I say this to all my punting family in the Cape..Die manne is hier!!!

Kapil has been my favourite horse for all the time when he raced in SA. When he went to Dubai i almost gave birth. It never made sense...he had leg problems and travelling done him no good. He is a 1600m specialist and at 7 I agree he might be at the peak of his game to go 2000m at level weights but that where my questions start popping up..will he..can he..yes and mmmm..no. It becomes complicated, I do not like disecting what can and what cannot be achieved. This is the gist....DANS THE MAN...plenty not untapped....burtsing at the seams...Swearing before he sleeps...how much longer must I wait...this is my race and I want it run tomorrow..but to you Dan I say-Wait my boy-Die ouens weet ni....iiiks...!!!! Pocket Power has to be the horse to beat, especially at these weights and with a decent draw. If you watch the replay of the Queens Plate and watch his acceleration when about 200m out then I reckon the horse which finishes in front of him will be the winner.

Avinesh lol like i said Dan De lago is my pick for this one so far but a Pocket Power win would be an upset of sorts I think the Champs days are becomming numbered. if we have a look at last years July there was some major Pocket Power fever and we all know the result there with not so much Big City Life but the other runners to run in the money. I think this could once again happen. thousands of people will go and put hard earned cash on a pocket power win at prices that are not worth the outlay and io believe they may be disappointed. if Pocket power does manage to pull this one off I will be surprized. He shouldnt however be ignored in the exotics swingers and exactas. Credit is due to him tho for a fantastic career but its time for a different WINNER ---> Dan De Lago

In the July Pocket Power gave every horse that beat him 6 or 7 kg's. He had a bad start and then was out of position the whole race. At these weights and with a decent passage........

David yes thats true... are you really really that convinced that Pocket is that much better than any other horse in this field? I just feel that his time has come and the Pretenders are going to become contenders for the throne.

I say if Strydom rides Oracy you can put your house on it.. Any other jockey riding him can't win.. I would love to see PP win it a fourth time but i think this time he has a real challenge on his hands. If PP wins this race it will be an awesome accomplishment.. And if he does win i say retire him, R10 million in stakes what more do you want for him?

WELL WELL WELL!!!! I am not convinced that there is another PP but I am absolutely positive that this years J&B will be a race of mass distruction. In my gambling days I use to get up at 4 in the morning and workout a top 5 in a race and gradually break it down to a winner. I am now more of a lover of the game than a punter and I know the feeling of taking the risk to punt but listen my pals: I love humoureous dialogue but this is serious stuff. Dan De Lago and River Jetez have two things in their favour and that is big race jockeys of the top order, make no mistake Bernard is good but there is something you are not considering; Dan is crying for the extra and Jetez has been wound up for this-just look at their last runs-its tantalyzing to see how these trainers prep their horses and these two are as ready as butter to melt on hot toast....its a given!!!
