It was a picture-perfect morning at the Champ de Mars as official training kicked off to the delight of a sizable crowd of racing fans. With the sun rising over the historic track, horses were back in action under ideal weather conditions, marking a much-anticipated return to the routine.
The Mauritius Turf Club reported that at exactly 6:07 a.m., Allez Moris was the first horse to step onto the trotting track, piloted by jockey Sunil Bussunt, setting the tone for the session.
Several top stables wasted no time getting their string back into gear. Among those represented on the track were the yards of Gujadhur, Samraj Mahadia, Carl Hewitson, Amar Sewdyal, and Selvom Mootien. Meanwhile, horses from the Vicky Ruhee stable were seen stretching their legs along Shakespeare Street, with their first official outing expected next Tuesday.
While the overall session ran smoothly, there were two minor hiccups. Vartacus got a little too eager and parted company with his rider during the workout. Fortunately, the horse was swiftly caught, and both horse and rider walked away without injury. In a separate incident, Alaskan Night lost his rider while entering the track and wandered briefly before being safely reunited.
