South Africa's G1 sprint star is set to test himself on one of racing's biggest international stages, with Cape Flying Championship winner Kingdundee bound for Dubai. Owner Clive Murphy has confirmed the Grade 1 winner will join champion trainer Bhupat Seemar's powerful Meydan stable, with the prestigious Al Quoz Sprint emerging as the primary target. In that G1 Cape Flying win he beat Buffalo Storm Cody from a poor draw winning from the front.
Dubai Campaign Planned
Murphy confirmed Kingdundee's international journey is already underway, with the horse due to enter quarantine on 7 July before flying to Europe and then continuing on to Dubai ahead of his Meydan preparation.
"He is the best in South Africa and I have the Al Quoz Sprint on mind for him," Murphy told SAHorseracing.COM.
Champion Stable
Murphy believes Seemar's operation offers the ideal environment for the accomplished sprinter. That assessment carries added significance given Seemar's outstanding record in the Emirates.
"Bhupat Seemar is the champion trainer in Dubai and he won the Dubai World Cup two years ago with Laurel River. He is a perfect choice for this horse," said Murphy.
Kingdundee's move presents another opportunity for a leading South African sprinter to compete on the international stage. His Dubai campaign will now be closely followed as he prepares to take on elite opposition in one of the world's premier turf sprints.
