South African champions Gimme A Nother and Isivunguvungu return to the spotlight on Saturday when both line up in stakes company at Colonial Downs, continuing their respective North American campaigns in races that present fresh opportunities to enhance their international records.

Gimme A Nother Chases Grade 2 Honour

Former unbeaten South African champion Gimme A Nother has been entered for the Grade 2 Beverly D Stakes over 1 3/16 miles, a contest offering a purse of US$500,000. The Graham Motion-trained mare faces 11 rivals in the 12-horse field after drawing gate nine.

Hall of Fame rider John Velazquez retains the partnership as Gimme A Nother steps back into graded company in one of the feature races on the Colonial Downs programme.

Isivunguvungu Returns in Sprint Feature

Champion sprinter Isivunguvungu will contest the Van Clief Stakes over 5½ furlongs, where a field of 14 has assembled for the US$150,000 sprint.

Like his stablemate, Isivunguvungu has drawn gate nine and reunites with Jorge Ruiz, who partnered him to his most recent victory. The combination will be aiming to add another stakes success as the South African speedster continues his campaign in the United States.

With both runners competing in black-type company on the same card, Saturday's Colonial Downs meeting provides another significant opportunity for South African racing to be represented on the international stage.
