Veteran Racing Regulator Arnold Hyde to Leave NHA After 25 Years

The National Horseracing Authority has confirmed that Arnold Hyde, the organisation’s Racing Control Executive, will leave the NHA. Hyde’s final day in office will be 15 December 2025, bringing to a close a 25-year career at the heart of South African racing regulation.

Over a quarter of a century, Hyde played a central role in upholding the integrity and daily operation of racing in the region. His responsibilities spanned stewarding raceday decisions, enforcing rules, and contributing to licensing and governance processes that support the sport’s credibility.

Arnold Hyde has been an integral part of the National Horseracing Authority for a quarter of a century.

The announcement arrives at a time of broader change within the NHA. Industry observers say Hyde’s departure will be watched closely as the authority implements new governance arrangements and the Board undertakes a reshaped mandate.

"The National Horseracing Authority confirms that, by agreement, its Racing Control Executive, Mr Arnold Hyde, will be leaving the employ of the NHA after 25 years to pursue other interests.

The NHA expresses their gratitude for his years of dedicated service to the NHA and we wish him well in his future endeavours.

Mr Hyde wishes the NHA well under its new Board and remains a friend of the industry. Mr Hyde’s last day in office will be 15 December 2025, " stated CEO Vee Moodley.

Looking ahead, the NHA will need to identify how Hyde’s responsibilities are reassigned or replaced and how continuity in regulatory oversight will be maintained during the transition.
